Brize Norton, Oxfordshire


NORTON (BRIZE), a parish in the hundred of BAMPTON, county of OXFORD, 5 miles (S.E) from Burford, containing 528 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Oxford, rated in the king's books at £9. 7. 11., and in the patronage of the Dean and Canons of Christ Church, Oxfrod. The church is dedicated to St. Brise. Ten poor children are educated for an annuity of £10, the gift of Goddard Carter, in 1723.
